Welcome to my little corner of the internet!
I’m Katie, a former classroom teacher turned homeschool mom, reading coach, and passionate advocate for struggling readers—especially those with dyslexia.
I spent several years teaching in a high-poverty school in Orlando, Florida, where I taught 2nd through 4th grade and served as a team leader and instructional coach for grades 2–5. During that time, I earned my master’s degree in reading education and discovered a deep love for structured literacy and helping students who learn differently thrive.
Five years ago, I made the leap into homeschooling my son—and I haven’t looked back. As a single mom, it was a big transition, but it allowed me to bring everything I knew about effective reading instruction into a one-on-one setting. That experience has deepened my commitment to supporting dyslexic learners and helping families feel empowered and supported.
Along the way, I’ve created resources for Teachers Pay Teachers, taught on Outschool, and built a small online community where I share tips, tools, and encouragement for parents and educators navigating the world of literacy instruction.
My goal? To make reading accessible, joyful, and achievable for every child.
